When replacing track sprockets on a wide guage bombardier should rubber or polly be used. Will the wear characteristics be the same?

Discussing this with Ted Playford , he much prefers the plastic sprockets as they have an indefinite life span. They are available from Shaver Industries at Stonewall Mb.
