HEI ignition

Having issues wi my electronic ignition system on my 318. Does any one no the model# of a HEI distributor that will drop in to replace current mopar dist? With this new setup you can apparently get rid of brainbox, balast resistor and associated wiring etc. Seems like it would be a good alternative.

Hi the HIE ignition is the way to go we have done 2 318 and a 360 I also am putting one in my 351.You can get them off ebay or get them from summit racing.When you do the upgrade you have to use a heavy wire from the ignition to the distributor. With the upgrade you will notice the engine runs and starts better

I bought my HEI off ebay they only have one on right now it is a PROFORM part# pro-67040 for $212.30 summit has the same one for $261.95. If you go with the HEI you need to check the clearance from the center of the distributor to the firewall you need 3 1/4 inches. At times there is cheaper ones on ebay.

bought a hei with vacume assist/did not fit,went with all new package mopar components,works well

Did you get sorted out ? I just did up a 313 Poly and had lots of interested challenges along the way but it is definitely worth the excercise.

Highly recommended for every bomber, i went with the proform 67040 from summit racing. it takes away all the unnecessary wiring and resistors ignition coil etc. You will find the engine starts better the engine sound better and perform better
